The Realm of Caring Foundation is hosting a celebrity golf tournament to raise awareness about the benefits of using cannabis to treat CTE – Chronic traumatic encephalopathy.
The 3rd Annual Realm of Caring Golf Tournament will raise money for further research. The potential benefits of treating CTE with similar hemp extracts is well-documented. While Boston University and the US Department of Veterans Affairs estimate that 96% of NFL players suffer from the neurodegenerative brain disease, there has been little research into the benefits of treating the disease with cannabinoids.
The US Government understands the value of CBD as has patented some cannabinoids as having neuroprotectant qualities.
The benefits of cannabinoids native to the cannabis plant were most famously showcased in the CNN documentary about Charlotte Figi’s second chance on life once she began ingesting an extract from a variety of hemp high in cannabidiol (CBD). Charlotte suffered from Dravet Syndrome – a severe form of intractable epilepsy that caused her to have dozens of seizures a day.
Tickets to participate in the tournament are sold out, but it is still possible to join the host of celebrities during the silent auction and dinner. Players from the NFL will be in attendance. The VIP list includes Eugene Monroe, Kyle Turley, Charlie Adams, Brandon Lloyd, and Lorenzo Neal.
